How to choose an FDE course

Pick a Forward Deployed Engineer course by your starting point, budget and the proof it helps you build, not by its marketing.

There are now enough FDE programmes that the hard part is choosing. Use these four filters in order.

1. Start from where you are

A working engineer and a fresher need different things. Engineers need applied AI and client skills, delivered in a format that fits a job. Freshers need foundations and, often, a credential. The courses hub groups programmes by background.

2. Check the deployment hours

The job is deploying software for customers. Ask each provider how many hours you spend building against realistic data, and whether there is a capstone deployment with a handover. Theory-heavy programmes are cheaper to run, not better to take.

3. Get the total cost in writing

Ask for the fee including GST, any exam or certification fees, and the refund and EMI terms if you stop midway. Every fee on our spec sheet shows the date it was checked.

4. Ask for evidence of outcomes

Placement claims are only useful with a report you can read. Ask for an audited placement report, the list of hiring companies, and what happens if you are not placed. The full list of questions is in the buyer's checklist.

When to choose a free route

If you are self-directed and already work as an engineer, free courses and your own projects may be enough. The resource hub maps free courses to roadmap stages.

FAQ

Q1.Is a university certificate better than a bootcamp?
It depends on what you need. A university certificate gives a recognised credential and structure; a bootcamp usually gives more cohort time and project feedback for less money. Neither replaces shipped projects.
